Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli has once again made headlines — this time not for his runs, but for his gesture towards the crowd after suffering two consecutive ducks in the ODI series against Australia.

In the second ODI at Adelaide, Kohli was dismissed for a 4-ball duck — just days after failing to score in the Perth ODI. This marks the first time in his ODI career that the former Indian captain has been dismissed for two ducks in a row.

As Kohli walked back to the pavilion, he waved to the crowd while holding his gloves — a move that instantly triggered retirement rumours on social media. Fans began to wonder if the 36-year-old batting great was signalling the end of his illustrious international career.

“End is very, very near guys, cherish every moment of Virat Kohli in this tour,” one fan posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Despite the speculation, Kohli had earlier told reporters that he was fully fit and mentally fresh, reaffirming his goal to play in the 2027 ODI World Cup.

“I feel as fit as ever. My body and reflexes are in great shape, and I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead,” Kohli had said before the first ODI.

However, his recent form has added pressure amid growing competition in the Indian team, with youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal waiting for opportunities.

While Kohli’s determination remains strong, his back-to-back failures have intensified debate about whether the modern-day great is nearing the final phase of his career.
